This i a collection of short stories by Harry Harrison whos best known for "Make Room! Make Room!" which is the basis for the film "Soylent Green".
These stories are very brief and all center around some sort of twist of subversion of expectation by the end of each.
There's one in particular that still sits with me titled "The Final Battle". It's a single page long and contains a father telling to his children around the fire his accomplishment of peace throughout the land thanks to the weapon hung above the fire.
It transpires that the item in question is a bow and arrow and they are cave men.
