Statement

Narrative, Tales, Characters, Names, Labeling, Lists, Collection, Vessels, Craft, Painting, Making, Tools, Function, Props and Objects.

A box made from paintings never to be seen, a collection of studio debris fashioned into headwear, A letter and envelope both made of brass, Paintings that chronicle the occupations of plug sockets and even more boxes hiding fictions never to be told.

Umbrella terms tend to be clumsy. Upon entering the studio, you imagine a Sawn-off shotgun of term seems more suitable.

‘I have turned my non-lethal but fully proverbial firearm towards Objects and named my weapon Narrative.’ You declare this to room while collecting the peppered ideas into a sketchbook.

You erase your previous attempt and try once more to strike a line between a title for your work that undermines your efforts and overly explains exactly what you have done.

You say this to yourself while cutting the image off, hiding something from the viewer that is seemingly important.

You have a feeling that the patter of a magician is where the trick lies. Their ultimate tool when creating an illusion.
