'The Dark Object' Katrina Palmer

This is the first book by Palmer that I have read and of this type of writing. That is, writing about writing. The book itself is a made up of a narrative which contains short stories within. This narrative centers around a school of sculpture. This school has defined it’s parameters for output and the sanctity of their craft so tightly that it doesn’t allow the creation of objects, feeling that it corrupts the essence of bringing into being the art. As such, their one and only student is forced to use words as her means to create which is the catalyst for these short stories within. These and the over-arching narrative aid in describing/demonstrating the way in which fiction, art, reality, physical and the talked about all attach to one another through the learnings of this student.
